A group of Social Security Administration employees developed a Web application that lets analysts sift through terabytes of data. They can use a nearly infinite number of search criteria, and that’s enabled the agency to detect and prevent a lot of fraud and abuse. The application has gotten some attention: It was one of 30 finalists for ACT-IAC’s 2015 “Igniting Innovation” awards. Ann Amrhein, the deputy associate commissioner in the Office of Earnings, Enumerations and Administrative Systems, joined Tom Temin on the Federal Drive to explain more about the award-winning program.
