Agencies have a choice to make of who will lead their innovation effort.

Because whether they are ready or not, federal chief technology officer Aneesh Chopra has been charged with leading the governmentwide initiative to bring game-changing ideas to federal services.

Chopra says these people have to have the right frame of mind, but does it have to be the chief information officer? Well, Chopra doesn't know, but he has some ideas.

Chopra also defines what he believes innovation means, and how it applies to agencies and CIO's. In addition, he says new ideas may bypass agencies and go directly to state and local governments.

FederalNewsRadio's Jason Miller caught up with federal CTO Aneesh Chopra earlier today for his first sit-down interview since the Senate confirmed him May 22.
