He hosts the weekly program "The Hunt for Osama Bin Laden and the War on Terror." He has traveled extensively the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe and Africa covering national security matters. In the summer of 2006, he traveled with the military 18,000 miles, to 10 countries in 31 days, while reporting for his continuing series "Combat, Counter-terrorism and Compassion". He has logged numerous exclusive interviews with top military and intelligence officials, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Before joining the team at Federal News Radio, he traveled to and reporting on the events, issues, people and places of Africa, Latin America and Europe for the six years on public and international television. He came to Washington in 1989 to work as a reporter WMAL radio. After working as a weekend reporter on FOX-5 WTTG in the early 90s, he worked on air as a correspondent-in-training on ABC News NIGHTLINE in the mid 90s. He covered various elements of the O.J. Simpson trial, and race relations.
From there, Green headed to CNN covering The Million Man March, and The Balkan Peace Talks as a general assignment reporter in Washington. In 1996, Green says he landed what he looks at now as "the" job: host of the Washington Journal on C-SPAN.
In 1998 JJ began working as a correspondent for the Voice of America Television on Window on America and as host and correspondent Africa Journal while traveling extensively.
He's fluent in Spanish, speaks what he calls a "working level French," and is studying Ukrainian and Korean.
