Military launches its version of YouTube

The military workforce now has its own way to share video with each other – safely and securely. It’s called Miltube.

It’s like YouTube but all videos on Miltube are posted behind secure network firewalls. So warfighters and other workers can share videos of their training, favorite news clips, ceremonies, or fun stuff just like everybody else.

Military leaders have had concerns over security and privacy within the world of social media. Officials say everything posted on Miltube will be protected from unauthorized viewing and distribution.

Army.mil says users can easily watch, upload, sort and search content. The site will also have its own channels, categories and tags.

It’s actually a companion to several other networking tools that are part of MilSuite. They include milBook, milWiki and milBlog.
