Operation Covert Santa needs your help to provide gifts for recently wounded soldiers and their families.

These soldiers and sailors are recovering at Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Naval Medical Center.

“Providing gifts for their loved ones is often too difficult or impossible under the circumstances,” said Operation Covert Santa organizer Edward Meagher. Meagher is the former Deputy CIO of the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Interior.

How Operation Covert Santa works: The project collects wish-lists from soldiers and their family members and asks “elves” in the community to provide the gifts on the list. Volunteers then deliver the gifts on Christmas.

Covert Santa has received requests from over 150 service members and their families this year and is receiving more Santa Lists each day.

If you’re interested in helping out by buying gifts for a family, wrapping them, and delivering them to Meagher by Friday, send an e-mail to emeagher@cox.net.
