• The Senate passed spending bill to keep your agency running after Friday. It cuts $6 billion from the budget and runs through April 8. The House passed it earlier this week. And congressional leaders in both chambers expect it to pass. This is the sixth continuing resolution for the budget year. We’ll keep you posted on the vote throughout the hour on the Dorobek Insider.
• A new bill in the House could change the way your agency approaches transparency. Congressman Elijah Cummings’ office says One part would give GAO more authority to access your agency’s records. Another would make you have to disclose more information about advisory committees.
• The Defense Logistics Agency is providing fuel for relief operations in Japan. The Pentagon Channel reports the USS Ronald Reagan took on millions of gallons of jet fuel before sailing to the region. DLA is working with a number of agencies, including Pacific Command and offices in Hawaii and Japan.
• The Navy is supporting Northrop Grumman’s plan to spin-off its ship building unit. That unit has been struggling, as the Navy tightens its budget belt. At first, the Navy worried the move could put ship building programs at risk. But Northrop agreed to make financial adjustments to reduce the risk. The ship building unit will become part of a new company called Huntington Ingalls Industries.
