TITLE OF POSITION: Sports producer
DEPARTMENT: WFED Programming
REPORTS TO: Program Director
STATION & LOCATION: WFED, Washington, D.C.
HOURS: On-Call, freelance
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt (hourly)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years professional broadcast experience
  • Strong interest in local professional and college sports
  • Excellent radio production/voicing skills
  • Ability to operate board equipment, ENCO, Adobe Audition, ISDNs
  • Thorough understanding of FCC guidelines regarding compliance with rules including indecency, profanity, payola/plugola, and contesting
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Ability to work established schedule and other hours as needed, nights and weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Journalism, Communications, related field or related experience
  • Assertive, communicative, inquisitive
  • Knowledge and experience reporting news in a major market
  • Sports Junkie

DUTIES:

Produce radio broadcasts for various professional and collegiate sports teams. Duties include technical setup, running a sound board, engaging with broadcast talent, and call screening.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. The Company will make reasonable physical accommodations to facilitate the ability to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to manipulate computer keys and general office equipment (telephone, copier, calculator, etc.) for extended periods of time
  • Ability to hear and speak clearly and follow both oral and written direction
