Awards celebrate elimination of government speak

The Center for Plain Language recently announced the winners.

It’s so easy to get into government speak!

We have acronyms that turn into words that most people outside of this world understand — and, let’s be honest, sometimes we don’t even understand them.

Well, one group is trying to change this.

The Center for Plain Language recently announced the winners of its ClearMark and Wondermark Awards for Best and Worst Language Use in Business, Government and Nonprofits.

Federal agencies found themselves in both categories.

Dr. Annetta Cheek chairs the Center’s board of directors, and talked with us about the award winners, what they did to earn the award, and why the government should be concerned with this in the first place.
