The House passed the bill Wednesday evening by a 212-206 vote. It would cap the annual operating budgets of federal agencies at the $1.2 trillion approved for the recently finished budget year _ a $46 billion cut of more than 3 percent from President Barack Obama’s request. People serving in the military would get a 1.4 percent pay raise.
As the Senate takes up the measure, “one other thing to watch for,” Ian Swanson, news editor for The Hill newspaper told Federal News Radio , “is that there’s still a plan in the Senate to take this CR…and sort of attach an omnibus spending bill that would have some different funding levels. So there’s still a couple of twists and turns in the story of these spending bills for 2011.”
