Science Insider reports that NSF would receive all but $71 million of its $7.4 billion request — a 6.2% increase for the 2010 fiscal year. The agency would get $45 million — $15 million of which would be devoted to scholarships — to train cyber-security professionals who work for the federal government.
GAO is calling for a set of rules to oversee how your agency participates in sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Twenty-two of 24 major federal agencies have a presence on Web 2.0 sites. Those tools have been seen as a way to help engage the public.
