GAO recognizes agency challenges with Web 2.0

While everyday people most often don’t think twice before signing up for Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media outlet, agencies have a lot of security issues to deal with before they can dive into the Web 2.0 arena.

Last week we aired an interview with Greg Wilshusen, Director of Information Security Issues at the Government Accountability Office.

Some of you missed the interview since it aired the same day as the Nats day game against the Atlanta Braves, so we wanted to bring it to your attention.

The GAO has released a report examining the use of social media tools by government agencies. It says one challenge for agencies is determining whether information exchanged through these technologies constitutes federal records pursuant to the Federal Records Act.
