The House plans to vote today on a new Republican plan to raise the debt ceiling. And while GOP leaders have said they’ve picked up more support for the proposal, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Democrats in his chamber will reject the bill.

But the continued congressional squabbling doesn’t change the fact that Congress faces an Aug. 2 deadline to do something about the debt ceiling.
