Congress isn’t back in session until next month. But they already have one item on their agenda — an amendment to the Constitution requiring balanced federal budgets.

Both House and Senate are required to hold votes on the amendment this fall as a condition of the debt-ceiling law.

Erik Wasson, a staff writer for The Hill newspaper, joined the Federal Drive to discuss what the amendment would require as well as the odds for the bill’s passage in both the House and and the Senate.
