If enacted, advanced practice nurses and physicians assistants would be included under FECA and it would provide for “the reimbursement for services provided by such assistants and nurses.” Assistants and nurses would also be permitted to certify disability as the result of traumatic injury during a continuation of pay period.
The bill also extends compensation under FECA for death or disability caused by a terrorist attack or an attack by a terrorist group.
The legislation also increases benefit amounts for a worker whose face, head or neck is disfigured as the result of an injury. Benefit amounts for funereal expenses are also increased.
The bill extends pay for employees who have filed wage loss claims because of traumatic injury sustained in a zone of armed conflict.
