Beth Killoran, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Technology and chief  information officer at the Department of Health and Human Services, joined Federal News Radio for a free online chat.

Questions were submitted in real-time during the chat or submitted in advance by emailing moderator, Executive Editor Jason Miller.

Jason Miller also hosted Killoran on Ask the CIO the week prior to the chat. 

On Ask the CIO, she discussed how she used cloud to reduce IT capital expenditures, reduce program risk, and reduce implementation time of mission-critical apps. She also discussed HHS’s progress in protecting its systems and data, and develop the skills of its workforce.

GUEST BIOGRAPHY: 

Beth Killoran has been the Department of Health and Human Services chief information officer since July 2016 and has been with the agency since 2014. Previously, Killoran spent 11 years at the Homeland Security Department and nine years at the Treasury Department. Killoran holds a Master of Science in Technology Management from University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a certificate in Personnel Management from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
