It’s not exactly Yelp, but the military services are spreading the word on which contractors they hold in the highest regard.

The Army, Navy, and Air Force on Monday released their supplier performance ratings shortlists for 2016 — an honor roll for contractors’ business units scored highly by the military acquisition community.

The Superior Supplier Incentive Program (SSIP) originated as a Navy pilot program, but Frank Kendall, under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, expanded the program to include the Army and Air Force in June 2014, in support of DoD’s Better Buying Power initiative.

The SSIP recognizes the best performing business units within parent companies receiving the highest contract obligations for the last three fiscal years.

Ranking is based on data taken from the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS), which evaluates a contractor’s quality work upon completion, and weighs favorably for contracts with a high dollar value.

Contractors who scored in the “Tier I” category consistently received a “very good” or “exceptional” rating in CPARS assessment rubric, including performance measurement criteria, fulfilling contractual requirements and responsiveness to government questions or concerns.
