White House may unite agencies’ efforts in cybersecurity

That’s the question the White House and Congress are wrestling with.
The Washington Post reports the White House is working out a solution where a team from the FBI, the Pentagon’s Cyber Command and DHS could work together to ensure that everybody has the authorities and capabilities that they would need to protect the country.
General Keith Alexandar, head of Cyber Command, told a House Armed Services Committee that an attack on the power grid or other similar systems would probably shut down the systems.
The Cyber Command is only tasked with protecting military computer networks.
And the agency tasked with assisting the private sector in case of an attack — DHS — lags far behind the DoD in personnel, resources and capabilities.
