Fish, birds and bats inspire Navy’s Next-Gen drones

The Pentagon wants robots that can navigate in any environment.

That’s why the Navy awarded a five-year, $7.5 million grant to researchers to study the travel patterns of fish, bats, birds and insects, Wired reports.

With the data, researchers will create mathematical models that can be used in engineered systems.
