An explosion in threats against the nation’s cyber networks led the Defense Department to develop and publish a cybersecurity strategy that also tackled cyber relations between nations.
But the strategy is still largely silent when it comes to the specifics of cyber warfare.
Daniel Goure, a vice president with the Lexington Institute, joined the Federal Drive to discuss the Pentagon’s cyber war posture.
The think tank recently convened a cybersecurity forum called “Electronic Attack Capitol Hill.”
“America’s military faces many of the same challenges that consumers do in staying abreast of technological developments,” the Lexington Institute argued at the conference, “because the information revolution has transformed warfare the same way it has transformed other facets of life.”
Goure discussed what exactly constitutes cyber warfare, the policy options DoD faces in the cyber domain and the role that industry can play.
