This morning’s federal news as heard on WFED:

The Pentagon has set up a three-member task force to review pay for performance in the Defense Department. The panel will focus on whether the controversial National Security Personnel System is meeting objectives and operating in a fair and transparent way. The task force will take comments and make recommendations this summer and follow with a full-fledged report in the fall. NSPS was put on hold shortly after President Obama took office.

DC City Administrator Dan Tangherlini has accepted a few positions in the Treasury Department. If confirmed by the Senate, he’ll take on the roles of assistant secretary, chief financial officer and chief performance officer. Tangherlini is the former head of Metro.

The Army has set up its own office to address cyber security. The joint cyber office combines experts from the Army’s intelligence and security command. It will be charged with working on the military branch’s IT security requirements. The move comes in advance of preparations for a Pentagon-wide cyber command. A formal announcement on that is expected in the coming weeks.
