Bill would ban cyber kill switch

No one should be allowed to shut down the internet in the United States. So says Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman. He, along with Republican Senator Susan Collins and Democrat Senator Tom Carper, introduced updated legislation to secure the nations critical cyber infrastructures. The Cybersecurity and Internet Freedom Act says no one can have the authority to turn off the internet nationwide. While questions surround whether the Internet really could be shut down, the authors say their bill uses specific language that any potential efforts would be prohibited.
