Cybersecurity best practices include people

While most efforts at training on information security focus on what not to do, a new report recommends rewarding employees for keeping information secure.

Technology can help combat cyber attacks, but so do people. And the IBM Center for the Business of Government says that few agencies effectively prepare and reward their employees for keeping information secure. The report is called “A Best Practices Guide to Information Security.” It says agencies should move away from a negative approach to cybersecurity, and instead, encourage positive behavior from workers. Best practices like logging in or out, workspace security, email and Internet protection and reporting security issues are all listed as ways for employees to ensure cybersecurity within your agency.
