DoD relocates JFCOM components

The Defense Department is relocating pieces of the now-defunct Joint Forces Command, according to a DoD release.

The Transportation Command will take in headquarters functions for the global standing joint force, while the Strategic Command will adopt the Joint Warfare Analysis Center.

The relocations are all part of a review of conducted every two years by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The latest review took place after the closure of Joint Forces Command, which was part of then-Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ efficiency initiatives. The transfers have been approved by the president.
