Thousands of FAA workers and contractors are breathing a sigh of relief. They were prepared for the possibility of no paychecks. But Congress has cleared an authorization bill — at the 11th hour — that extends FAA programs through Jan. 31st.

If it hadn’t passed there could have been a repeat of the partial shutdown in August that put thousands of people out of work for two weeks.

Registered employee benefit consultant Ed Zurndorfer joined the Federal Drive with tips on what federal employees should do to protect their personal bottom line, in case they ever lose a paycheck.

Zurndorfer shared how emergency funds should be, as well as if there is a difference between government workers and contractors.

He also addressed what feds need to know about their TSP contributions.

*How big should your emergency fund be, as a fed or a contractor? *What do feds need to know about TSP contributions?
