At the Fermi National Laboratory in Batavia, Ill., the scientific specialty is particle acceleration. The lab is also on a mission to accelerate commercialization of particle discoveries.

The five-year plan is in response to a directive from President Obama to improve technology transfer.

Robert Kephart, director of the Illinois Accelerator Research Center at Fermi, joined The Federal Drive with Tom Temin what’s going on with a brand new facility under construction and how accelerator technology is already being used.
