DoD to ease cross-state licensing for military spouses

The Defense Department has been ramping up efforts to work with states on the portability of licenses for military spouses who must move a lot.

Members of the military move a lot. Spouses with jobs requiring state licenses can have a hard time finding a job in another state.

A report from DoD found that nearly 35 percent of military spouses require licenses or certification for their jobs.

Marcus Beauregard, chief of the Defense Department State Liaison Office, told The Federal Drive with Tom Temin that spouse licensing has been a priority for a number of years. Last year, his office began asking state license authorities to provide endorsements and temporary licenses for spouses who move state to state.
