Fiscal 2017 budget deadline

Air Force cancels annual technology conference

The Air Force canceled an annual technology conference, citing budget concerns. It had scheduled the AFIT conference for late August in Montgomery, Ala.

The Air Force said it would have cost $1.4 million to send people there, and that’s too expensive right now.

The service said it is following governmentwide guidance to find creative ways to cut costs and improve efficiencies. It is looking hard at events

This is the sixth time the Air Force has canceled the annual conference in its 29-year history. All of the previous times were for budgetary reasons too.
