Senate bill tries to break cyber overhaul impasse

Two senators want to break the impasse over cybersecurity legislation in the Senate.

The new bill from Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) change the Department of Homeland Security’s control over cybersecurity standards in the private sector.

The Hill reports that the bill would put DHS in charge of a program to encourage private infrastructure companies to improve cybersecurity, but those companies wouldn’t be required to change.
