The Energy Department is asking electric utilities to make cybersecurity a top priority. It called for a cybersecurity governance board that would share information with the DoE.
Network World reported in exchange for vulnerability information, the government would share it anonymously with other participating utilities.
President Barack Obama is considering using his executive authority in the cyber battle. He wants to make agencies and critical infrastructure operators install better controls. This follows the failure of the Senate to pass a cybersecurity bill before recessing last week.
