Proposal would alter cybersecurity requirements for contractors

The government is stepping up cybersecurity requirements for contractors.

A proposed rule from the General Services Administration, the Defense Department and NASA would make contractors responsible for securing networks that store any type of government information.

The current rules apply only to public information.
