The nature of threats to our nation’s information assets has changed. Modern day attackers have adopted stealthier techniques designed to exploit user trust. Because of this new attack profile, the human element of information security represents the most variable, unpredictable and critical vulnerability to our nation’s information systems. Now, more than ever, government employees and contractors must be provided with effective information security training and held accountable for understanding and following information security policies. Failure to do so increases the likelihood that mission critical systems will be compromised and rendered ineffective at supporting their intended mission.
