For federal IT professionals, getting your security clearance is only half the battle.
The Washington Business Journal reports a survey of roughly 1,500 security cleared professionals found that 38 percent credited technology certifications for helping to land them new positions.
And that certification is especially important for positions in the Defense Department, where cyber attacks are considered an act of war.
The federal government is struggling to recruit and retain talented cyber professionals. Certifications in networking equipment, software applications and infrastructure components provide some validation that individuals can lock down computer systems to ensure data remains protected.
