  • Your benefits may be on the chopping block. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer says federal worker benefits should be on the table in the talks over reducing the federal deficit, reports The Hill. This comes as Congressional leaders are considering increasing the contribution federal employees make to the Federal Employees Retirement System.
  • A new broadband network can interfere with or block GPS signals. The network, built by LightSquared of Reston, received its initial operating license from the FCC in January. NextGov reports initial tests of the LightSquared system knocked out GPS receivers used by emergency responders.
  • All Navy and Marine construction contractors have to go green. Starting this year any contractor who wants to bid on a Navy or Marine construction project has to include at least an option package to meet the LEED Gold standard. Starting in Fiscal 2013 every new Navy building in the world must meet the LEED Gold standard.
  • Your agency might have paid money to stimulus recipients who owe millions in back taxes. The GAO says the government has paid more than 24 billion dollars to tax-delinquent contractors and grantees. The audit finds thousands of them owe more than 750 million dollars.
  • The Government Printing Office named Richard Davis as its new Chief Technology Officer. Davis recently served as Acting Superintendent of Documents and Managing Director of Library Services and Content Management. He has also had other positions in the library services and information technology departments.
