  • Since 1995 the Army spent 32 billion dollars on cancelled weapons programs. In that time frame the Army stopped twenty two weapons programs. The Washington Post cites an Army study where they condemn the service’s efforts as unacceptable.
  • Seven Republican Senators have introduced a bill to merge the departments of Commerce and Labor. Lead sponsor Senator Richard Burr says the bill is aimed at reducing duplication in government. The new department would be called the Department of Commerce and the Workforce.
  • FEMA may run out of rebuilding money. The agency has 2 point 4 billion dollars in its Disaster Relief Fund to last through September 30, USA Today reports. They are asking for an addition 1 point 8 billion dollars to get them there.
