Reporters’ Roundup: USDA buyouts, VA-DoD joint e-health

• The secretaries of the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments are scheduled to meet June 23 to further iron out the details of the plan for a joint electronic health record. Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller spoke with VA CTO Peter Levin about how the joint effort is developing.
• The buyouts are official at some parts of the Agriculture Department…and Federal News Radio Senior Correspondent Mike Causey writes in his column today, that they aren’t the first buyouts, and they probably won’t be the last.
• House lawmakers are considering legislation that would give the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission emergency powers to shore up the electric grid’s cyber defenses. It’s authority that utility companies say FERC doesn’t need. Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu has the details.
