  • The Army’s acquisition chief is resigning. Malcolm O’Neill the Army’s assistant secretary for acquisitions, logistics and technology says he will resign his post as soon as possible. O’Neill has served as the Army’s acquisition chief since March 2010.
  • The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Washington are closed today due to power outages. Sources at both agencies confirm that the outages are a problem with Pepco. The General Services Administration’s headquarters building in Washington is also closed because of the power outages.
  • Another major Federal contractor was hacked. Defense contractor L-3 Communications fell victim to hackers. Wired.com reports it’s not clear from the e-mail whether the hackers were successful in their attack, or how L-3 determined SecurID was involved.
