Reporters’ Roundup: GAO’s BRAC efforts, evaluating DOD IG’s office

Here\'s what Federal News Radio\'s reporters worked on today

  • The General Services Administration is helping with some of the leg work in preparation for a civilian version of the Base Realignment and Closure or BRAC process. Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller spoke with Kathleen Turco, Associate Administrator of Governmentwide Policy about GSA’s role in the government-wide effort to dispose of excess federal property.
  • Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley issued a report last year blasting the DoD inspector general’s office for what he said was a lack of attention to financial audits. His office is now out with a second report, finding DoD’s audits are still too slow, too expensive, and too focused on policy rather than dollars and cents. But he says there are some signs of improvement. Grassley talked about the new report with Federal News Radio’s DoD reporter Jared Serbu.
