NIST cyber rules to apply to DoD contractors

The Defense Department has some new cyber rules for contractors to follow.

DoD wants contractors who have unclassified but nonpublic information to follow National Institute of Standards and Technology cybersecurity standards, Fierce Government IT reports.

This is a proposed rule change to the Defense Acquisition Regulation Supplement published in the Federal Register.

Under the proposed rule the DoD would set up two standards of cybersecurity that private sector contractors would have to follow.
