These are the stories Federal News Radio reporters are working on today.

  • Your retirement – and the money you need to make it comfortable – can get you really riled up. Senior Correspondent Mike Causey’s column today is about your Thrift Savings Plan and some of the numbers for people who are in the plan.
  • Conducting an inspection to make sure a military unit is following all of DoD’s cybersecurity procedures is hard enough on dry land. Now the Navy, for the first time, has conducted a command cyber readiness inspection on board a Nimitz class aircraft carrier, while it was at sea. Chief Petty Officer Eric Wishard is an information systems technician on board the USS Abraham Lincoln. He talked with Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu about what the crew had to do to pass the inspection.
  • The Postal Service begins collective bargaining talks with its biggest union this week, and it won’t be easy. The struggling agency wants Congress to let it lay off 120,000 people over the next three years. USPS Chief Human Resources Officer Tony Vegliante says that means breaking current union contracts. WFED’s Emily Kopp has the story.
