“We’ve reached this point where there’s been a successful transition and it’s time,” Gormley said in an interview with In Depth with Francis Rose.
Before joining WMG, Gormley spent 28 years at the General Services Administration. According to the WMG website, Gormley was instrumental in “helping overhaul the GSA Schedules program to embrace a services model.”
Gormley worked at WMG for the past 11 years.
Having worked now in both the public and private sectors, Gormley said, “What I’ve learned by being on both sides: Industry is not the enemy and government needs to recognize that more and more.”
“The number of rules needs to decrease a little bit and there needs to be trust put back in the game,” he told In Depth.
Gormley commended the mythbusters campaign led by Dan Gordon, Office of Federal Procurement Policy administrator. But he added the ideas have not yet taken hold.
“I hope that improves. It just has to get better,” Gormley said.
Catherine Morales, executive vice president of Deltek Information Solutions, will lead WMG, said Patrick Smith, Deltek’s vice president of corporate marketing and communications.
The WMG specializes in the GSA and Veterans Affairs Multiple Award Schedules program, according to the company’s website.
