Utility cybersecurity is in a state of near chaos and a $60 piece of software can bypass an entire defense security system, warns Pike Research.

Computer World reports. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation wants to find out just how secure your electrical grid infrastructure is. So their conducting an exercise to test the industries crisis response plans and look for weak spots where hackers can gain access to the system to damage or even shut it down.

Mark Weatherford, vice president and chief security officer for NERC, said they are raising red flags and pointing out the vulnerability of smart grids, according to the report.
