With federal workforces potentially on the budget chopping block, the Office of Personnel Management is extending a helping hand to feds who may find themselves jobless in the near future.
“The federal government is experiencing restructuring and downsizing in an increasing number of agencies. As a result, some federal employees may ultimately find themselves in a position of having to transition to a new job,” said OPM Director John Berry to federal chief human capital officers in a memo.
The memo includes links to OPM webinars and resources for early outs and buyouts. There’s also a video tutorial of how to use USAJobs.gov:
OPM’s website includes a reduction in force portal, which includes steps to take to get selection priority for vacancies in your agency.
“Agency Human Resources Directors are encouraged to disseminate this information to your respective agency personnel. We will update the OPM website to organize these resources for easy reference,” Berry wrote in the memo.
