Dogs that worked in Iraq and in the Pentagon and the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, will be visiting the offices of the House Veterans Affairs Committee today, the Associated Press reported. They’re the winners of the first-ever American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards.

The recipients include Roselle, a seeing-eye dog that led its handler, Michael Hingson, down 78 flights of stairs in the burning World Trade Center on Sept. 11.

A dog that served in Iraq and now helps comfort soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder will also be honored.

The Hero Dog Awards will air on the Hallmark Channel on Friday, Nov. 11.
