The relationship between government and contractors became more muddled this year with the ongoing debates surrounding inherently governmental and reverse auctions.
But 2012 could be different. Rob Burton, a partner at Venable Law Firm, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss what to look for in 2012.
Burton said the biggest federal story of 2012 will likely be the ongoing budget concerns — especially with the failure of the deficit-cutting supercommittee.
Burton said a greater cost-saving effort by agencies could lead them to turn to private-sector solutions and all but abandon in-sourcing initiatives.
Burton also said the “onslaught” against federal employees, in terms of possible cuts to pay and benefits, will likely continue into 2012.
