Twelve scams of Christmas

McAfee warms of the twelve online scams to be aware of.

The Holiday season is here and cyber crooks are looking to take advantage of the season by stealing consumers’ money, identities and financial information.

Security giant McAfee warns of the “twelve scams of Christmas” — a list of the most dangerous scams this holiday season.

Topping the list is the iPad offer scam. Apple products are always a top seller around the holidays and scammers are busy distributing bogus offers for free iPads, according to McAfee.

Hotel and airport wi-fi are also common scams. During the holidays, travelers use free wi-fi in places like hotels and airports, a ripe time for thieves to hack into networks hoping to find opportunities for theft.
