Jared Serbu

Deputy Editor/DoD Reporter

Jared Serbu is Federal News Network’s deputy editor, where he leads our organization’s coverage of the Defense Department, manages our broadcast and podcast programming, and assists in most other aspects of Federal News Network’s editorial strategy and day-to-day newsroom management.

Jared first joined Federal News Network in 2010 as a Defense Department reporter, and was named Deputy Editor in 2016. Since 2011, he has also hosted On DoD, an hour-long radio show and podcast that covers a wide range of topics that affect Defense managers and contractors – from technology to acquisition policy to personnel and financial management.

Prior to joining Federal News Network, Jared was an assignment editor at the then-legendary KGO-AM in San Francisco, and before that, a political and statehouse reporter at KFYI-AM in Phoenix. Earlier, he worked as a reporter and anchor at several other radio outlets in Arizona, where he was born and raised. Jared attended both Northern Arizona University and Arizona State University.

Jared and his family now live in New Orleans, where they initially moved during a military permanent change of station, and where they decided to settle following his wife’s military retirement.
