The federal government is facing a shortage of qualified cybersecurity workers. According to ISC Squared, 61 percent of federal information security professionals believe their agencies need more employees in order to manage threats now and in the future.

ISC Squared released a set of seven recommendations to help agencies try to solve that problem. Among them — updating the Federal Acquisition Regulations to ensure cloud providers adhere to FedRamp, FISMA and other security requirements; establishing a cyber special forces team; and reviewing the Scholarship for Service and Centers for Academic Excellence programs to determine if they meet the needs of the federal government.

ISC Squared sent its recommendations to the White House, NIST, Homeland Security and the Pentagon.
