“Cancer Knowledge Clouds” could soon connect researchers and the National Cancer Institute through data. It’s part of NCI Cancer Genomics Cloud Pilots project. The agency wants to use next-generation cloud technology to create instant dialogues between the cancer research community. A contract pre-solicitation notice is already out to build three cancer cloud pilot programs. NCI plans to release a formal Broad Agency Announcement solicitation on or around January 13th. First though, it’s offering an online, pre-proposal conference on January 6th. Anyone interested in making an offer to build a cloud system can go to the conference and ask questions or get some clarification on the requirements. NCI says the pilot projects will have three phases: Design, Implementation, and Evaluation.
