Cisco and a telecommunications company are saying ‘konichiwa’ as they work together to deliver Unified Communications to Japan.

The partnership between Cisco and Fujitsu began about five years ago.

Part of the collaboration, which will combine Fujitsu’s VJ-110 series access unit with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, will help mobile users check their email and schedules from mobile terminals.

Fujitsu will also develop middleware to help customers link to existing customer relationship management applications to Manager to deploy next-generation call centers.

Fujitsu will train 300 unified communications technical support personnel in the first year to create one of the largest UC service organizations in Japan.

No financial details of the alliance were disclosed.
