Is the threat of cyberwar exaggerated? That question was the subject of a Intelligence Squared debate at the Newseum on Tuesday. Both sides agreed that there is a significant threat posed by cyberhackers, but disagreed about whether there was an actual cyber war. Bruce Schneier, the founder and chief technology officer of BT Counterpane, says the internet has proven to be more resilient than anyone ever excepted. On the other hand, Mike McConnell, the former director of National Intelligence, says calling it a “cyber war” helps people realize just how significant these cyber threats are. After the debate the audience was asked to vote if the threat of cyber war had been grossly exaggerated. More than 70 percent said no. We want to know what you think. Vote here.
